Course Content

TERM 1 (Months 1–4) — Foundation of Tajweed & Correct Recitation
Months 1–4

This is voice discipline stage. No rushing.

Module 1: Introduction to Quranic Sciences (2 weeks)

  • What is Tajweed?
  • History of preservation of Quran
  • Concept of Sanad & Ijazah
  • Difference between Tajweed and Qiraat
  • Introduction to 7 & 10 Qiraat
  • Adab of reciting Quran

Assessment: Oral + short written test

Module 2: Makharij al-Huroof (Articulation Points) (4 weeks)

Deep study of:

  • 5 main articulation regions
  • 17 articulation points
  • Practical drills (mirror training, slow recitation, sound isolation)

Every student should:

  • Recite isolated letters correctly
  • Be corrected individually

This is surgical precision phase

Module 3: Sifaat al-Huroof (Characteristics of Letters) (4 weeks)

  • Heavy vs light
  • Hams, Jahr
  • Shiddah, Rikhwah
  • Istifaal, Isti'la
  • Tafkheem & Tarqeeq
  • Application on Surah Fatiha + short surahs

Assessment:

  • Oral evaluation
  • Error detection exercise

Module 4: Basic Tajweed Rules (6 weeks)

  • Noon Saakin & Tanween rules
  • Meem Saakin rules
  • Qalqalah
  • Rules of Madd (natural, secondary)
  • Rules of Laam & Raa
  • Stopping (Waqf & Ibtida basic)

Practical recitation: Juz Amma (selected surahs)

Midterm Exam:

  • Oral exam
  • Practical Tajweed application
TERM 2 (Months 5–8) — Advanced Tajweed + Structured Recitation
Months 5–8

Now we move from "correct" to "beautifully correct."

Module 5: Advanced Tajweed (6 weeks)

  • Detailed Madd types
  • Advanced Waqf & Ibtida
  • Hamzatul Wasl
  • Imalah (intro)
  • Rules of heavy/light letters in context
  • Common Tajweed mistakes analysis

Students begin reciting full Juz Amma with correction.

Module 6: Voice Training & Tarteel (4 weeks)

  • Breath control
  • Rhythm & pacing
  • Introduction to Maqamat (Bayyati, Hijaz, Rast)
  • Avoiding exaggeration
  • Balance between melody and Tajweed

This is refinement phase

Module 7: Completion of 1–2 Juz with Tajweed (6 weeks)

Students must complete:

  • Juz Amma
  • Juz Tabarak
  • OR Juz 1 completely

Weekly individual recitation grading.

Assessment: Oral exam (minimum 30 minutes recitation)

TERM 3 (Months 9–12) — Introduction to Qiraat (Hafs + Basic Warsh)
Months 9–12

This is where it becomes elite level.

Module 8: Introduction to Qiraat (4 weeks)

  • History of Qiraat
  • 7 Qiraat overview
  • 10 Qiraat overview
  • Conditions of accepted Qiraah
  • Chains of transmission

Focus Qiraah: Hafs 'an Asim (complete mastery)

Module 9: Differences Between Hafs & Warsh (6 weeks)

Students learn:

  • Differences in Madd
  • Differences in imalah
  • Differences in stopping
  • Examples from selected surahs

Applied recitation comparison.

Module 10: Practical Qiraat Application (6 weeks)

Students:

  • Recite selected Surahs in Hafs
  • Recite same passages in basic Warsh variations
  • Learn theoretical differences even if not mastering full Qiraah

Final Project:

  • 20-minute memorized recitation
  • Tajweed explanation viva
  • Written exam on theory

Assessment Structure
